Mediaeval tavern in the ‘Steckengasse’: a sensuous feast for eyes and ears

Tuesday-, friday- and saturday evening at the Salzstadel

The ‘Joculatores’ are the minstrels and jokers in a Mediaeval tavern - invited guests but at the same time rather uncouth. The historical hall of the ‘Salzstadel’ gives them the adequate setting for an evening full of revelry. They play a grotesque and uncouth medley of their social misery and their craving for heavenly delicacies. The landlord serves the best roast meat with red and white wine, water and beer. As in the song from the ‘Carmina burana’: “When we’re sitting in the tavern, we don’t worry about the destiny of the world”.
